We hope you all had a great break and we can’t wait to continue our success this semester!

Since it’s officially Movember, come out to support the Canadian Cancer Society in raising awareness for men’s cancer, while fundraising for all types!

Tickets are $5 dollars in advance and $7 at the door, so get them early!

First Bake Sale of the Year!

Monday, October 17th: MSCS will be having our first bake sale in Leacock from 11am-3pm. Feel free to come out and volunteer or donate any baked goods! If you would like to get involved, e-mail us at cancer.society@mcgill.ca!

Hope to see you then!

Luminaries

Shave to save was a success, despite the rain! We raised over $200 and had more than 12 people donate over 10″ of hair! Thank-you to all the people who came out to support us, always appreciated!

Our next event is Wednesday, October 19th–Luminaries! This event is taken directly from the annual Canadian Cancer Society event called “Relay for Life”. Candles will be sold at the crossroads on all day from 9am-5pm, they can be purchased either, ‘In memory of” or ‘In honour of.’  The luminaries will then be lit at dusk, when the full effect of the light is clear. We will have a musician come play at this time.

Looking forward to see you all then, goodluck on midterms & assignments!

Shave to Save is Almost Here!

Shave to Save!

Coming up Thursday is the first McGill Students’ Cancer Society event of the year! Be sure to join us at the Crossroads for Shave to Save! Come down for a haircut, to donate your long locks, to shave other people’s heads or if you’re brave enough to get your own head shaven! We promise it will be an event to remember, so come down and check us out! (Even if you don’t want to cut your own hair, it will still be worth attending!)

See you all there!

Shave to Save

Shave to Save is here! We will be at the Crossroads: Thursday, September 22nd. It will run from 9:00am-4:00pm.

We will be shaving heads, cutting hair, and maybe even chest waxing all day for all who wish to get a free hair cut for a good cause! If you’re interested in cutting hair to donate make sure it is around 6, 8 or 10 inches, clean and… straight!

VOLUNTEERS: Sign up at http://www2.mysignup.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi?mcsshavetosave!

We began this amazing event a few years ago with tremendous success. Over $4500 were raised for the Cancer Society and many locks of hair were donated to make wigs. Shave To Save 2008 was nominated as Charitable Event of the Year at McGill. We hope to have yet another amazing Shave to Save this year and for that- we need your help!

We would like to thank everyone for their continuous support and ask that you come down to the Crossroads on September 22st to join us, and that you help SPREAD THE WORD!

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
All funds raised by the McGill Students’ Cancer Society are donated to the Canadian Cancer Society who in turn fund Cancer Research, Support Groups, and Information sessions among other events.
