Hey everyone!!

We’re in store for another exciting week of chess filled fun here at the Chess Club. First off, we’ll be gathering at the usual time and place from 5:30-8:30 Thursday in theTrottier cafeteria. There, you’ll have the opportunity to play casual chess, analyze games, and receive instruction from any of our experienced execs. Regardless of your level, there’s bound to be something for you this Thursday.
Furthermore, we will be continuing to offer Chinese chess this week. Luhua Xu will be back this week to give an introductory lecture to the game of Chinese chess. His lecture will start shortly after 5:30, so make sure to be there!
Best wishes in all of your chessic activities,
David Zhou

WELCOME, OR WELCOME BACK!

I hope you all had a great summer, filled with interesting experiences, stimulating encounters, and lots of relaxing time. I also wish you all the best for the coming semester, in terms of academic success, personal endeavors, and improving your chess skills, of course!

I will be stepping down from the VP Communications position in the coming weeks, to take another role within the Executive Team. I will let you know more about the new execs, the events we’ve got planned, our brand new membership card, and free lessons with a FIDE Master in our next newsletter. Lots of exciting stuff coming your way! The purpose of today’s message is simply to wish you all a warm welcome back, and inform you that our first meeting is scheduled for this week.

FIRST MEETING
Our first meeting of the year is scheduled for THURSDAY, September 13th, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, in the cafeteria of the Trottier Building (the engineering building on the corner of University and Prince-Arthur).
Most of you will notice that we are planning to change the weekly meetings from Wednesday to Thursday evenings. We hope you will be able to attend! We are also thinking of moving the meetings to the SSMU building (providing we can book a room). Any thoughts on the scheduling and location of the meetings are welcome.
Thanks for reading, and see you Thursday!
