Chancellor’s Cup Results

McGill had an exceptional performance at the Chancellor’s Cup this past weekend. After an initial stumble, W. Calvin Rosemond and Queen’s alum Gretchen McCulloch took the bubble by storm, grabbing two 1sts late in the day to break 7th overall as a team with superlative speaker scores, netting them both individual hardware as the tournament’s 4th and 9th top speakers, respectively.

McGill’s novice contingent once again proved itself to be formidable (after predominating at the Central Novice Championships). In a grudge match between the CNC final’s opposition benches, Cole Bricker and Peter McCauley showed their teeth, winning the novice final over fellow Redmen Keenan MacNeal and Lyle Dobbin. Cole also took home the prize of Top Novice Speaker.

I would be remiss to go without remarking on the success of other McGill teams at the tournament. Just outside the break were Joe Bricker and Natalya Slepneva, finishing 9th overall, and Joe McGrade and Emma O’Rourke-Friel, who finished 10th. The Joes finished just outside the top ten speakers, placing 14th and 15th overall. Continuing his hybrid career was Alex Amar, who broke 1st and placed 11th on the speaker tab with perennial partner Romeo Maione.
