Interesting in joining the McGill Debating Union?

On Mondays, come to the Shatner Building to watch one of our show rounds! These rounds are highly entertaining and informative, with our senior members showcasing their debate prowess.

On Thursdays, we hold practice rounds in Leacock. These rounds are open to everyone, regardless of experience, and you’ll have the chance to learn all about debate and pick up some skills. Thursday meetings also incorporate training seminars on a semi-regular basis, varying from workshops on various debate skills to in-depth briefings on a variety of topics from informed senior debaters (anything from the current situation in Israel to a primer on ethical theory). We go out for food and drinks after Thursday meetings, so you’ll have a chance to make friends and have a good time.

Don’t worry if you haven’t debated before, or if you haven’t been to any earlier meetings – we welcome any students interested in debating, public speaking, or just thoughtful discussion!
