Environment Commissioner

Hours: 5-10 hours per week

Job Description

The Environment Commissioners (EC) act as advisers to the SSMU to ensure that the SSMU is as sustainable as possible. The ECs chair the Environment Committee, strive towards minimization of the Society’s negative environmental impact, raise awareness within the Society about environmental issues, present a year end report that summarizes the year’s activities and provides information for the transition of the new EC, and generally works to move the SSMU in a more sustainable direction. Further, the ECs coordinate and oversee the projects under the Green Fee fund, and advise the SSMU Finance committee on the disbursement of that fund.

The contract is from September 4th, 2012 until April 30th, 2013.

Requirements

• Good knowledge of environmental issues. • Knowledge of SSMU. • Integrity, good planning skills, interpersonal skills, high degree of organization skills. • Good communication skills both in English and French desirable.
