Arabic Beginner

This course in modern Arabic is designed for non-Arabic-speaking students who have no knowledge whatsoever of Arabic. The course focuses on standard Arabic: the phonology, the script of literary Arabic, proper pronunciation, and elementary vocabulary/writing expressions.Students will be familiarized with some aspects of Arab cultures in relation to Arabic language.

French Beginner I

Want to travel to France but can’t speak the language? Or are you just having trouble getting around outside the McGill bubble? Get a grip on all the French you need to get around in any Francophone city around the world. The French Beginner I class is an introduction to the course, for people who never ever studied French before!!

French Beginner II

Want to improve your French? Having a hard time with the announcements on the Metro? French Beginners II is ideal for people who either studied French for 1 year in high school or for a minimum of 30 hours in a language school (like Berlitz or an Alliance Franaise for example.) Potential students must be able to understand basic spoken French and they must be able to minimally speak.
NOTE: This is the next level up from French Beginner I

French Conversation

Ce cours est très simple : les étudiants vont discuter entre eux de sujets proposés par l’enseignant. Celui-ci va superviser les discussions, corriger les erreurs et répondre aux questions. Veuillez noter que ce cours est d’un niveau avancé, puisque tout y est en français. Vous devez donc être capable de parler avec une certaine aisance pour vous inscrire à ce cours.
**This class is for people who are fairly advanced and who have an excellent understanding of spoken French as well as a capacity to speak without too much effort. (If you did not understand the blurb above, this class is not for you)
NOTE: This is the next level up from French Intermediate II. This is a conversation-only class, so there will be no formal grammar or lessons of any kind.

French Intermediate

If you’ve already taken our French Beginner II course, fear not, there is still more French to go around! Intermediate I is for people who either studied French for 2 years or more in high school or for a minimum of 100 hours in a language school (like Berlitz or an Alliance Franaise for example). Potential students must have a good understanding of spoken French and must be able to communicate without too much lagging. If you’re living in Montreal, why not try to make the effort and improve your French as much as possible!
NOTE: This is the next level up from French Beginner II

Mandarin Beginner
Instructor: Sharon Shao
Mandarin is the official language for China’s estimated 1.3 billion citizens, and it’s being spoken all over the world! After this course, students will be able to carry on a simple conversation in terms of greetings, inquiring time (numbers, time, and date), sending invitations, ordering Chinese food, shopping in China, asking about a place, making a phone call, asking about weather, and more!! This course assumes no prior knowledge of Mandarin.
